Hawkers demand rehabilitation before eviction

Hawkers demanded on Monday that they be rehabilitated before their eviction from footpaths, reports UNB.

The demand was made from a human chain formed by 'Bangladesh Hawkers Sangram Parishad' in front of the National Press Club in the city. The human chain programme was arranged marking one year into the eviction of hawkers from the city footpaths.

Parishad President Abul Hossain said though Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured them of constructing a multi-storey market for the hawkers, the authorities concerned have not yet taken any initiatives to this end.
