HC grants anticipatory bail to SK Sur's wife, daughter

The High Court (HC) on Sunday granted anticipatory bail to Suparna Sur Chowdhury, wife of former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank Sitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury (SK Sur Chowdhury), and their daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The HC bench of Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam and Justice Md Hamidur Rahman passed the order after hearing the accused's bail petition.
Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon appeared in the court on behalf of the accused, in contrast, Advocate Ashif Hassan appeared for the ACC and Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Mujibur Rahman represented the state.
The ACC filed the case on December 23 against SK Sur Chowdhury, Suparna Sur Chowdhury, and their daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury for failing to submit a wealth statement within the stipulated timeframe.
