HC summons civil surgeon, six other docs

The High Court summoned on Sunday the Civil Surgeon of Comilla and six other physicians to appear before it on April 4 to place their explanation over a faulty cesarean operation when doctors cut the baby's head off, reports UNB.

An HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque passed the order in a suo moto move. Those who were summoned are-Civil Surgeon of Comilla Mujibur Rahman, director of Comilla Medical College and Hospital Dr. Swapan Kumar Adhikari, Dr Nasrin Akter Popy, Dr. Ayesha Afroz, Janiul Haq, Dilruba Sharmin and Karuna Rani Karmaker.

The HC also issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the authorities concerned should not be given directives to take stern action against those involved in the incident.
