Housewife commits suicide over family feud in city

A 20-year-old housewife reportedly committed suicide following a family dispute in the capital's Banani area on Friday night, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Monalisa Munni, daughter of Harunur Rashid from Char Kasia village under Raipur upazila in Lakshmipur.

She had been living in a rented house at 196/6 Niazuddin's tin-shed house in Banani with her husband, Rana, who works at a printing press.

The incident occurred at around 09:30 pm when Munni was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf inside her room.

She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead around 10:45 pm.

Rana said they had a minor argument the previous day.

"Today, we quarreled again over a small issue. Out of anger, she went into the room and hanged herself," he said.

They had been married for about two and a half years and had no children, Rana added.
