ICT chief investigator Hannan dies of corona

Abdul Hannan Khan, the chief investigator of the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), died of coronavirus on Sunday. He was 78, reports UNB.
Hannan, also a freedom fighter, died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka around 12:45pm, said ICT investigation agency senior coordinator Sanaul Huq.
He said Hannan was admitted to the CMH on Thursday as he was diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Referring to the doctors of the CMH, Sanaul said Hannan's condition worsened badly in the morning and he later suffered a massive cardiac attack and died.
Hannan left behind his wife, son, daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
A former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hannan joined the investigation agency of the ICT in January, 2011.
Earlier, he had also investigated the Bangabandhu murder and jail killing cases.
President M Abdul Hamid expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the valiant freedom fighter.
In a message of condolence, the President recalled with due respect the significant role Hannan Khan performed with utmost dedication and efficiency as the chief coordinator of the investigation wing in various historic cases of the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also expressed profound shock and sorrow at his demise.
In a message of condolence, the premier recalled with due honour that Abdul Hannan Khan performed his duty with utmost dedication and efficiency as the chief coordinator of the investigation wing in the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case and the jail killing case.
