IGP for strengthening Polwel as a modern, profitable entity

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary on Saturday called upon the authority of Bangladesh Police Cooperative Society Limited, well known as Polwel, to develop the organisation as a modern and profitable one, reports UNB.

The IGP, also the chairman of Polwel, made the call while addressing the 51st Annual general meeting of the society at Bangladesh Police Auditorium in the city's Rajarbagh area.

The IGP said the shareholders should increase their confidence on the Polwel.

"Various types of projects have been initiated for the development of the policemen by investing their money," he added.

The chief of the force emphasised for expanding profitable business alongside current projects of the Polwel and also to increase income of the oldest cooperative organisation of the country.

The vice-chairman of Polwel additional IGP Mokhlesur Rahman, its managing director additional IGP Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury, Director Additional DIG Dr Shoaib Riaz Alam and shareholders also spoke in the occasion chaired by the IGP.

DMP commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Benazir Ahmed, Polwel directors, delegates and shareholders, among others, were also present in the meeting.

Annual general meeting announces 40 per cent dividend for the year 2015-16 and 2016-17. In addition, the financial statements of the last financial years were also approved in the meeting.
