Professor Dr Mohammad Sharif Uddin, vice chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, has said that engineers in the industrial sector face widespread discrimination and harassment in their workplaces, reports UNB.
He was speaking at a programme marking the Victory Day, organised by the Industrial Engineers Association of Bangladesh (IEAB) at the National Press Club on Monday.
He said that Bangladesh is an industrially rich country with great potential, and the number of industrial establishments continues to grow, contributing to the sector's progress.
"Despite this growth, hundreds of thousands of industrial engineers employed in these establishments face significant discrimination and harassment in their workplaces," he added.
He further emphasised that the Industrial Engineers Association of Bangladesh (IEAB) is an organisation representing engineers in the industrial sector.
The association must work actively to eliminate all forms of discrimination faced by engineers working in the industrial and private sectors.
