Inqilab Mancha continued its blockade and sit-in programme at Shahbagh in the capital for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, demanding arrest and trial of those responsible for the killing of Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
Leaders and activists of the Mancha began their sit-in programme at around 2:15pm, blocking the city's key Shahbagh intersection. As a result, traffic movement at Shahbagh and its surrounding areas came to a virtual halt.
Although the blockade was scheduled to begin at 2:00pm, protesters started gathering at the intersection shortly after noon.
They initially took position on the roadsides near the Shahbagh crossing, chanting slogans. After 2:15pm, they fully blocked the Shahbagh intersection.
Inqilab Mancha activists have been staging continuous protests at Shahbagh since Friday afternoon. People from various groups and individuals also joined the programme and expressed their solidarity with the movement.
On Sunday, Inqilab Mancha observed a nationwide blockade in all divisional cities and at around 10:00pm on the day, the Member Secretary of the Inqilab Mancha, Abdullah Al Jaber, announced a four-point demand.
