IUB alumnus Prof. Osama appointed as VC of USW

Prof. Osama Khan, alumnus of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has been appointed as the vice chancellor (VC) and chief executive of the University of South Wales (USW), UK.
Prof. Osama will assume office in May 2026, according to a press release by IUB.
He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with double major in Finance and Economics at IUB's School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
He is currently serving as deputy vice-chancellor (academic) at Aston University. A former investment banker turned academic, Prof. Osama also holds degrees from the University of Cambridge, Lancaster University and the University of Surrey.
He began his academic career in the UK as an associate lecturer at Cambridge and has since held senior posts including pro vice-chancellor at the University of Surrey and executive leadership roles at Solent University.
He has taught at leading global institutions such as Surrey Business School, Cambridge Judge Business School, HEC Paris, Copenhagen Business School, and the University of Hong Kong.
In a career spanning 25 years, Prof. Osama achieved a strong record in ensuring institutional reform, student success, digital learning, and evidence-based academic governance. His leadership at Aston University includes major contributions to academic transformation, graduate employability outcomes, inclusion initiatives and research impact. He has also played a prominent role in shaping sector-wide policy on equity and student success in the UK.
