Journalists for paying due honour to Mohammed Alam

Country's leading journalists demanded paying due honour to late photojournalist and freedom fighter Mohammad Alam including transferring his grave to intellectuals' graveyard, financial support for his family members from the government and establishing a library in his name.
A condolence meeting was held Monday at the Bangladesh Photo Journalists' Association (BPJA) to show honour to the veteran journalist.
The photojournalist, who passed away Thursday, was buried at Delpara graveyard in Narayanganj.
Senior journalists of country's leading daily attended the meeting.
Among the journalists, Rahat Khan of Ittefaq, Reazuddin Ahmed of the News Today, Nurul Kabir of New Age, Golam Sarwar of Jugantor, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury of the Observer, Omar Faruk of Dhaka Sangbadik Union and Matiur Rahman Chowdhury of Manab Zamin were present at the meeting.
Political leaders Bangabir Quader Siddiqui, Mujahidul Islam Selim, Jahirul Huq, leaders of Muktijoddha Sangsad also attended the meeting.
Mohammad Alam (61) was the chief photojournalist of the Ittefaq. He started his career as a photojournalist joining the Azad in 1968.
He served as a freedom fighter photojournalist of Mujib Nagar government in 1971.
In 1972, Alam joined in Press Information Department. Later on, he was attached to the then Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on deputation.
Prior to joining the Dainik Ittefaq in 1985, he also served in Dainik Sangbad.
During his long career, he covered a number of very important events at home and aboard.
Ataur Rahman Babu, senior photojournalist of the Financial Express, is the youngest brother of deceased Alam.
