JU gets new pro-VCs, treasurer

The government on Wednesday appointed Jahangirnagar University's (JU) Professor Sohel Ahmed and Professor M. Mahfuzur Rahman as the institution's pro-vice-chancellors (VCs) in the administration and academic categories respectively, while Dr. M Abdur Rab was appointed as the treasurer.

Prof. Sohel teaches at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Prof. Mahfuzur is a teacher at the Department of Botany. Dr. Abdur Rab is from the Department of Mathematics.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Education issued three separate notifications in this regard following the approval from the country's president, who is also the chancellor of all the universities.

During the four-year term from the date of joining, the pro-VCs and the treasurer will receive the same salary as similar post holders and enjoy all related benefits.
