Kalim new CUJ president, Suklal GS

CHITTAGONG, Jan 1: News Editor of the Daily Purbokone, Kalim Sarwar, has been re-elected president, and Senior Reporter of the Daliy Azadi, Suklal Dash, has been elected general secretary of the Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), a unit of the BFUJ.

The election was held on Saturday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm where 225 out of 234 voters cast their votes. The results were announced by the CUJ election committee chairman Omar Kaiser at 10.30 pm on the second day of the annual general meeting chaired by former CPC president Abu Sufian.

Kazi Abul Mansur and Manjur Kader Monju have been elected senior vice president and vice- president of the CUJ respectively.

Other elected office bearers are Chowdhury Farid (joint secretary), Dev Dulal Bhoumik (finance secretary), Shahidulla Shahriar (cultural secretary), Nazrul Islam (sports secretary), Rashed Mahmud (library secretary), Roksarul Islam (social service secretary) and Mintu Chowdhury (publicity secretary).
