Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and intelligence agencies will remain alert so that no miscreant can carry out any subversive act in the city during the countrywide one-minute 'blackout' programme on the night of March 25, marking 'Genocide Day', reports UNB.

DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah said this while addressing a coordination meeting at DMP headquarters in the city on Wednesday, marking the Independence Day and Genocide Day, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.

Like one minute silence programme, this one minute 'blackout' will be observed on March 25 night from 9:00 pm to 9:01 pm. The police and the intelligence agencies would remain ready during the one minute 'blackout' so that no miscreant carries out sabotage, the DMP Commissioner said.

The DMP Commissioner also requested the city dwellers to follow the government's decision to honour the heroic people who sacrificed their lives on the 'Genocide Day,' the DC (Media) said.

Senior officials of different law enforcement and intelligence agencies and the representatives of public service providers attended the coordination meeting.

The commissioner said, "We are committed to providing flawless security for the celebration of the Independence Day with proper dignity."

He also urged all city dwellers to take part in the programme in a way that a beautiful, disciplined and integrated security can be ensured in national interest.
