Lt Gen Aziz takes over as Army chief

Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed took over on Monday as the Chief of Bangladesh Army for three years, reports UNB.

He formally took over the charge from outgoing Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, said a press release issued by the Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR).

The new Army chief will be adorned with the new rank badge of General jointly by the chiefs of Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban this (Tuesday) morning, said ISPR Assistant Director Rezaul Karim Shammee.

Earlier on June 18, the government appointed Quarter Master General of Bangladesh Army Lt Gen Aziz Ahmed as the new Army chief.
