Maj Sadikul's wife Zafrin on five-day remand

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Sumaiya Zafrin, wife of Major Sadikul Haque (currently under military custody), on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over a secret meeting - allegedly organised by activists of banned outfit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order after police produced 26-year-old Zafrin before the court and sought a seven-day remand.

The Detective Branch (DB) of police detained her from the capital's Mirpur DOHS area.

According to the case statement, around 300 to 400 people - including leaders and activists of Awami League and BCL, as well as some retired government officials - participated in a secret meeting on July 8 at KB Convention Centre, adjacent to Bashundhara R/A.
