Bangladesh has called upon the United Nations to make sure no one enjoys impunity despite brazen violation of international laws related to humanitarian and human rights issues while treating Rohingyas, reports UNB.

Bangladesh has said it needs to be made sure that no one gets impunity for crimes against Rohingyas due to 'absence of visible and effective steps' of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

Permanent Representative of the Bangladesh Mission to the United Nations Masud Bin Momen made the call while speaking at an open debate on 'Upholding International Law within the Context of the Maintenance of International Peace and Security' in New York recently.

Describing the horrible humanitarian crisis seen by the UN Security Council team in Bangladesh and Myanmar recently, Ambassador Momen urged all to make full utilisation of the international laws in finding a sustainable solution to Rohingya crisis.

He expressed the hope that the UNSC will consider the strong humanitarian appeal made by the forcibly displaced Rohingyas seeking justice and accountability, said the Bangladesh Mission on Saturday.

Bangladesh currently has a Rohingya population, which is far more than Bhutan's entire population. Bangladesh is now hosting some 1.2 million Rohingyas.
