Man arrested with contraband liquor in city

Police arrested a man with 99 bottles of contraband Indian liquor from the Sabujbagh area of the capital on Tuesday.

The arrestee was identified as Md Qamrul Islam, 24.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi said that, acting on a tip-off, a team from Sabujbagh Police Station conducted a raid at a house on Samad Road in Dakkhingaon's Nandipara area under Sabujbagh Police Station and arrested Qamrul.

A case has been filed against the arrestee under the Narcotics Control Act, he said, adding that Qamrul was later produced before a court.
