Man, his son die in Bandarban clash

BANDARBAN, Aug 04 (UNB): A man was gunned down and his son was hacked to death in a remote area in Ruma Upazila on Friday night during a clash over establishing supremacy between two groups.

The deceased were identified as Kyngpru, 65, and his son Mongaching, 23.

Md Shamsul Alam, upazila nirbahi officer of Ruma Upazila, said the clash ensued between the supporters of former head and present head of the Ujanipari area of Paindu union over establishing supremacy.

Mongre Ong, the present head of Ujanipari, along with his supporters, went to the house of former head Kyngpru at around 10:00 pm and opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot, he said quoting witnesses.

Later, they hacked his two sons, leaving one dead on the spot and the other injured.
