Man surrenders to police after killing wife in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 19 (UNB): A man surrendered to the police after killing his wife at Kalartikor in Paba upazila on Friday.

Shariful Islam Rentu, son of Khoka of the village, killed his wife Lovely Begum (28) after slitting her throat and severing her tendons at his house sometime in the night, said Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Damkura thana.

Later, he surrendered to the police at Damkura thana around 3:30 am.

Rentu and Lovely had been at loggerheads for long over extra-marital affair of Lovely, said the OC.

Police recovered the body from his house in the morning and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
