A motorcycle driver has been killed in an accident 'involving a truck' in the capital's Banasree area, reports bdnews24.com.

The battered motorcycle was found in pieces on the Banasree-Demra Road at the entrance to Dhaka in the wee hours of Friday. The body of 31-year-old Delwar Hossain Sourav was next to it.

Sourav worked in a private company, his family says.

The incident occurred opposite Block 'A' of Shanta Tower in Banasree around 1:00 am on Friday. Sourav was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:30am. There, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Sourav was a student in the 39th batch at Southeast University.

Reports came in around midnight that a truck had rammed a motorcycle and knocked it over, said Ataur Rahman Akondo, officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station.

"Later, our personnel recovered the body. We were unable to identify the truck."

Imran Hossain, a cousin of the victim, said Sourav was likely heading home at night after dropping someone off. His motorcycle was rammed by another vehicle, as he was entering Dhaka through Banasree Road near the Rampura bridge.

Sourav hailed from Jashore's Sharsha and lived in a rented home in Khilgaon's Nandipara area. He has a three-year-old daughter.
