KHULNA, Jan 11 (BSS): Police on Sunday recovered the floating body of a man from the Kapataksha river near Phultala Ferry Ghat adjacent to Agorghata Bazar in Paikgachha upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam alias Sedu, 48, son of Munshur Gazi of Matbati village under Gadaipur union of Paikgachha upazila.
Local people spotted the body stuck to a trawler at the Agorghata-Phultala Ferry Ghat at around 07:00 am and informed police.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Quoting family members, police said Rabiul had been suffering from epilepsy for a long time.
Acting Chairman of Gadaipur Union Parishad Sheikh Khorsheduzzaman said Rabiul went missing on January 6 while returning from his maternal grandfather's house at Jetua village in Tala upazila of Satkhira district.
While crossing the river at Mahmudkati-Balia Ferry Ghat, he reportedly fell into the river after suffering an epileptic seizure. Despite extensive searches, he could not be traced at that time.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Rabiul Islam of Paikgachha River Police Outpost said the body was recovered following the information and necessary inquest procedures in this regard were underway. Family members later identified his body, he added.
