Medical technologists, pharmacists urged to return to duty

The government on Friday said that necessary processes are underway to address the longstanding demand of medical technologists and pharmacists for implementation of the 10th grade, urging them to withdraw their ongoing work abstention and immediately resume duties in the greater public interest, reports BSS.
For the past several days, medical technologists and pharmacists in government hospitals and health centres have been observing work abstention and other programmes, causing disruption to emergency healthcare services and resulting in immense suffering for patients.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has expressed regret to service seekers for the inconvenience caused, an official release said.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the health ministry have already completed all required procedures in a positive manner and informed the concerned parties.
The Ministry of Public Administration has also adopted a positive stance and is working sincerely to resolve the issue. As the demand concerns a longstanding matter, the government needs reasonable time to complete the process, the release added.
