Mercury rises slightly in capital city

Temperature in Dhaka inched up on Wednesday while dry weather prevailed in the capital as elsewhere across the country.

The Met office recorded the maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius in Dhaka on the day as against 32.8 degrees recorded the previous day.

The country's highest temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sylhet on Wednesday.

However, no rainfall was recorded anywhere in the country as of 6:00pm on the day.

In a weather forecast for today (Thursday), the Met office said weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.

Light rain or thundershowers may also occur in Cox's Bazar region, it added.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged but night temperature may rise slightly over the country, according to the forecast.

The sun sets in Dhaka at 5:21pm today (Thursday) and will rise at 6:03am tomorrow (Friday).
