Minor girl's death pushes toll to three

The death toll from Jatrabari blast in the capital rose to three as another victim, a three-year-old girl, died on Saturday.

The minor girl who sustained 90 per cent burn injuries in the explosion apparently from gas leakage at a building in Jatrabari area breathed her last at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the early hours of Saturday.

Resident Surgeon at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Dr Shawon Bin Rahman said Rafia died at around 3:30 am on Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday (July 10, 2025) three members of a family sustained serious burn injuries in the explosion around 1:40am following a blast on the ground floor flat of a six-storey building on Shaheed Faruk Road in Jatrabari.
