The body of a five-year-old girl has been found at a garbage dump a day after she went missing from the capital's Tejkunipara, reports bdnews24.com.
Police recovered the body from the Bijoy Sarani on Tuesday and sent it to the morgue at Suhrawardy Medical College for an autopsy.
The child - named Roza Moni - had gone missing late on Monday afternoon. Her family and neighbours searched for her in different places, even using a megaphone to make public announcements regarding her disappearance.
Around 11:00 am, locals searched inside a sack abandoned in a garbage dump underneath the flyover at Bijoy Sarani and found the child's body. Burn marks were spotted on the corpse.
Mobarak Hossain, chief of Tejgaon Police Station, said locals informed police after finding the body. Initially, law enforcers believe the child was killed and the body was hidden to dispose of it.
