Mohammad Alam gets Ekushey Padak

Mohammad Alam, who was a veteran photojournalist of the country, has been selected for the prestigious Ekushey Padak-2010 posthumously along with 14 other recipients.
According to an official statement issued Tuesday, the government has announced the names of 15 personalities for the award considering their contribution in their respective fields.
Alam, who was born at Murshidabad in West Bengal, India in 1946, had started his career from the now defunct The Dainik Azad in 1968.
Alam was the country's lone photojournalist who actively participated in the Liberation War in 1971. He was also a personal photographer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He died on January 10 in 2008 at the age of 62 when he was the chief photographer of The Dainik Ittefaq, one of the country's leading vernacular dailies.
