Muhith opens 250-bed hospital in Sylhet

SYLHET, Dec 22 (UNB): Aiming to provide modern healthcare facilities among the people, a 250-bed hospital was opened at Sobhanighat in the city.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated Al Haramain Hospital on Thursday.

Addressing the programme as the chief guest he said, "Our health sector has achieved mentionable progress although we have limited resources. But we have to develop such a healthcare system so that poor people can get services."

Addressing the programme as special guest, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said private investment in health sector is very hopeful.

Lauding chairman of the hospital Mahatabur Rahaman for his initiative for the development of healthcare for Sylhet people, he said private sector can play a pivotal role in ensuring quality healthcare services.

State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque said the government is sincere enough for the development of private sector healthcare.
