Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handing over Gold Medal to a student for her excellent result during the 5th convocation of the UIU in the city Saturday. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Saturday the government has attached priority to enhance standard of higher education for keeping up with the changing world of job market, reports BSS.
"Higher educational institutions must improve their standard to provide quality education for building skilled human resources," he told the 5th convocation of the United International University (UIU) on its campus in the city.
Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman of Board of Trustee of UIU Hasan Mahmud Raja and Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Chowdhury, among others, addressed the convocation.
Secretary of Power Division Dr Ahmed Kaikaus attended the function as convocation speaker.
Nahid said the government will take legal action against the private universities which have failed to fulfill their conditions to run the university under the rules of the Private University Act-2010.
