Motorcyclist dies, as bus
hits him in Dhaka's Bosila
A motorcyclist died after a Ramzan Paribahan bus hit him on the road in front of Police's SP Barracks in city's Bosila on Monday. The man aged between 25 and 30 could not be identified because his wallet was stolen after the accident. He died on the spot due to bleeding. The bus was seized after the accident, said Constable Alvi, who was on duty near the spot at the time. Eyewitnesses said the bus hit the motorcyclist when he was heading towards Bosila. It also hit a rickshaw before falling on the roadside. Later, Mohammadpur Police recovered his body, said the constable. — UNB
1,487 cases filed over
traffic rules violation in city
The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,487 cases for traffic rules violations in 24 hrs until Monday morning in various parts of the capital. Besides, 51 vehicles were dumped, and another 45 were towed during the drive. The DMP Traffic Division conducted the drives as part of their efforts to ensure traffic discipline in Dhaka. The DMP Traffic Division announced such operations will continue to maintain order on the city's roads. — UNB
Nine ASPs sent on retirement
The government has sent nine Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASPs) on retirement. The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued nine separate gazette notifications signed by Senior Secretary Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen on Sunday in this regard. The police officials are Md Mosharraf Hossain, Zobairul Haque, Md Jamal Uddin, Md Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan, Md Matiur Rahman, Md Mizanur Rahman, Md Enayet Hossain, Md Selim Hossain and M R Shawkat Anwar Islam. According to the notifications, they were sent on retirement from government service in the public interest. — BSS
