NARAYANGANJ, Dec 05: Traffic in Mandalpara area of Narayanganj town came to a standstill on Thursday morning as members of the Truck Owners Association staged a protest, blocking roads with vehicles in a bid to demand the release of one of their leaders. Eyewitnesses reported association leaders and workers brought trucks onto the road in a disorganised manner, completely halting vehicular movement. Protesters vowed to continue their demonstration until Shamim, the member secretary of the organisation, is released. — UNB

illegal entry into BD
Hili Dec 05: A 35-year-old Indian citizen was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on charges of illegal entry through the Hili border in Dinajpur on Wednesday night. The detainee, identified as Abdur Rahman, hails from Barabuian village in Bihar's Araria district, under the jurisdiction of Ghurna Police Station, according to BGB. Rahman entered Bangladesh illegally through pillar number 285/9 of the Hili border on Wednesday evening. —UNB
7th grader held 'instead of father' gets bail in Cox's Bazar
COX'S BAZAR, Dec 05: A Cox's Bazar court on Thursday granted bail to a seventh grader who was picked up 'along with arms' instead of his father on November 26. Cox's Bazar Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Zillur Rahman granted bail to Tousiful Karim Rafi, 14, a class VII student of Teknaf Hnila High School,after his 9 days of imprisonment. Rafi's lawyer Ayasul Rahman said the court granted him bail considering his age. — UNB
