Another Mirpur gas fire victim dies
A 13-year-old boy died from burn injuries suffered in a fire caused by gas buildup in a kitchen in the capital's Mirpur on Friday. The fire also claimed the lives of his parents and younger brother. The deceased is Abdullah. He passed away at 6:15am at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, according to Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the institute's emergency department. "Abdullah had burns on 38 per cent of his body. As of now, four people have died from the fire," Shaon said. The fire broke out in their home in C-Block of Mirpur's Section-11 around 5:30am on November 24. — bdnews24.com
Boat capsize in Hatiya leaves two dead
At least two fishermen were killed and two others went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the Bay at Hatiya in the early hours of Friday. The dead are Abdul Hashem (50), son of late Abdul Ali of Burirchar, and M Juwel (27), son of M Mostofa. Police said the boat was moving towards the Bay with 24 fishermen on board; suddenly the boat capsized in the Meghna estuary, hitting an island around 4:00 am. Two fishermen died while two others went missing. Twenty fishermen managed to swim ashore to the riverbank. "Police are trying to rescue the missing fishermen," said Titu Kumar Nath, in charge of Hatiya's Nalchira river outpost. — BSS
Two killed in bike crash in Kurigram
Two businessmen were killed in a road accident in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram district, said police on Friday morning. The accident happened late Thursday on Bhurungamari-Kurigram regional road near Joymoni Hatt Shaheed Samad Technical College. The deceased were Rashidul Islam, son of Abul Gafur, and Kamal Hossain Khokan, son of Abul Fazal Sarkar. Both hailed from Sapara village under Sadar union of the upazila. — UNB
