Rashly driven car claims woman's life in city

A woman was killed, as a recklessly driven car knocked down her on the Outer Circular Road in the capital's Shahjahanpur area on Sunday. A sub-inspector (SI) of Shahjahanpur Police Station said the incident happened near Rajarbag foot-overbridge at around 2:30 am. Hearing the news police rushed to the spot and recovered the deceased's body. After completing all legal formalities, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Police heard from locals that the woman was mentally retarted. The SI said they were trying to track down the killer vehicle and the driver through examining video footages. — FE REPORT

Police nab eight on criminal charges in city

Police have arrested eight persons from Mohammadpur area in the capital for their alleged involvement in different criminal activities. Assistant Police Commissioner of Mohammadpur zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) A K M Mehedi Hasan said on Sunday that a police team from Mohammadpur Police Station detained the eight during raids on Saturday. The arrestees were Jibon Biswas (21), Zubair (22), Tuhin (20), Sharif (21), Ahmed Mollah (20), Jihad (20), Shamim (35) and Imran (27). — FE REPORT
