RAB arrests man for ‘forging
home adviser's seal, signature’
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man named Zafar Iqbal on Saturday for allegedly making fake documents using a forged seal and signature of the home adviser. On information, the elite force arrested Zafar Iqbal after raiding the Khilkhet area in the city. The man amassed a lot of money by forging the home adviser's signature and seal, as well as those of other important people, said a RAB statement. He used these fake documents to offer jobs, promotions, and transfers to officials. During the raid, RAB recovered fake seals, business cards, and documents with signatures of the home adviser and other officials from his possession. — BSS
Midday meal at schools in April
The government is going to reintroduce the midday meal at government primary schools across the country in April this year. About 3.13 million students of about 20,000 primary schools mostly from poverty prone areas in the country will come under the feeding scheme. "The government has taken the initiative to provide midday meal five days in a week to ensure nutrition of students and prevent dropouts," Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) Director General Abu Noor Md Shamsuzzaman told the news agency. He said the three-year-term project will play a vital role to ensure quality education of students. According the DEP official, the project will be implemented across the country in phases. — BSS
Woman beaten to death in C'nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Mar 29: A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and his second wife following a family dispute in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early Saturday. The victim, Ruliara Begum, was the first wife of Shariful Islam of Shyampur-Sahapara Nuresh More village and mother of five children. According to locals, Shariful Islam returned home from Dhaka on Friday night bringing Eid gifts for his second wife Khirsha Begum and taking two apples with him to meet his first wife Ruliara Begum. Upon seeing this, Ruliara Begum got furious and an altercation began with Shariful. — UNB
17-yr-old killed over Facebook

SHERPUR, Mar 29: A 17-year-old boy was hacked to death by another teenager in Sherpur's Nalitabari upazila on Saturday following a dispute over a reaction to a Facebook post. The victim was adentified as Abu Naim, son of Ismail Hossain from the Nayabil area, said Officer-in-Charge Sohel Rana of Nalitabari Police Station. The incident occurred around 11:45 am. Naim was critically injured and rushed to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors later declared him dead, the OC said. — UNB
Dhaka's air quality still 'unhealthy'
Dhaka has ranked the fourth on the list of cities with the worst air quality with an AQI score of 158 on Saturday morning. Today's air was classified as 'unhealthy', referring to a health risk to residents, according to the AQI index. Nepal's Kathmandu, Thailand's Chiang Mai and Myanmar's Yangon occupied the first, second, and third spots on the list, with AQI scores of 194, 181 and 171, respectively. — UNB
