No threat surrounding Feb 21: DMP

Law-enforcers conducted drill with a dog squad at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Friday as part of the tightened security measures taken on the occasion of the Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day today (Saturday). — Focus Bangla

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali has said there was no security threat surrounding the observance of Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day on February 21, reports bdnews24.com.

However, he said a multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place, with 15,000 police personnel deployed in and around the Central Shaheed Minar.

Speaking after inspecting preparations at the Shaheed Minar on Friday, the commissioner said a large crowd was expected to gather to pay tribute to the language martyrs.

In addition to police, members of other law-enforcement agencies and volunteers would also be deployed, he added.
