North South University's (NSU) Media, Communication, and Journalism (MCJ) organised a day-long training session on digital journalism sponsored by Google and organised by Prothom Alo.

The session, held on Thursday, is aimed at enhancing participants' AI literacy, information verification skills, and digital reporting capabilities, according to a press release.

Professor Dr. Md. Rizwanul Islam, dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), NSU; Dr. Rizwan Khair, chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology, NSU; and Associate Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Alam Chowdhury, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka and Assistant Professor Maliha Tabassum, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), were present at the inauguration session, among others.

This initiative brought together 80 students from NSU's MCJ programme, offering them a valuable opportunity to engage with distinguished trainers and digital media experts.

Professor Rizwanul Islam said, "There is no digital journalism right now without AI. Still, I must advise upcoming professionals (students) to treat it as a tool of convenience, not the only source of generating content".
