One dies in fire at 20-storey building in city

A fire incident took place at a 20-storey building in the capital's Shyamoli area on Thursday night, leaving one person dead.

An official at the Fire Service and Civil Defence central office told the FE that the fire incident occurred at around 11:25 pm due to electric short circuit at the car parking of the building, located at 23/6 Mirpur Road in the capital's Shyamoli area.

He also said upon hearing the news, 18 units of fire-fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 4:00 am on Friday. The fire-fighters also rescued five women and 18 men.
