One dies of dengue, 420 hospitalised

Dengue fever claimed one more life in 24 hours until Sunday morning, taking the total death toll of the mosquito-borne disease to 56 this year.

Meanwhile, 420 more people were admitted to hospitals across the country after testing positive with the dengue virus. The number of hospitalisation reached 14,880 this year.

The figures were revealed through the regular dengue bulletin issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The deceased victim was a 23-year old woman. She died at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital.

Of the new cases, 116 were reported from Barishal division excluding city corporation, 79 from Chattogram, 60 from Dhaka Division excluding city areas, 25 from Dhaka North City, 57 from Dhaka South City, 26 from Khulna, and 45 from Rajshahi.

Some 481 patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 13,584 this year.
