One 'drug trader' held in city with 86 kg hashish

Police arrested one individual with 86 kilogramme hashish, worth over Tk 1.7 million, from Bashundhara area in the capital on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Md Tafsir (30).
According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), a team of Vatara Police Station went to a flat in Bashundhara area for recovering the dead body of a woman.
She had committed suicide in her bedroom by hanging herself with a ceiling fan. Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Subsequently, the law-enforcers arrested the victim's husband, Tafsir, on the day for questioning. His behaviour raised suspicions, and he gave inconsistent statements during interrogation.
Later, by scrutinising his previous track record, police found that several cases had been filed against him in the past. After intensive interrogation, he admitted that he had been a professional drug trader.
Police went to his rented flat in Bashundhara area and recovered 86 kg hashish that he had kept there for selling. A case was filed against him with Vatara Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
Meanwhile, Dhanmondi and Haharibag police stations handed over 106 stolen and snatched mobile sets to their original owners. Of the total number, Dhanmondi police handed over 28 mobile sets, while Hajaribag police handed over 78 mobile sets.
Police recovered the mobile sets by using advanced information technology, and then handed those over following general diaries filed by the owners.
They expressed gratitude to the police for getting back their mobile sets.
