One more dies of dengue, 255 hospitalised

The number of deaths from the mosquito-borne dengue disease and new patients hospitalised in the country especially in the capital city has kept rising.

Dengue claimed one more life and infected 255 people, who were hospitalised in the last 24 hours until Friday morning.

With these, the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease and hospitalised patients reached 49 and 11,236 respectively this year, according to the regular bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS).

It also said the capital city reported 233 new cases alone while 22 cases were recorded in other areas of the country.

Of the 22 patients, some eight were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division excluding the capital city while five were hospitalised in Mymensingh division, two in Chattogram division, four in Khulna division, and two in Sylhet division.

Currently, 1,257 dengue positive or suspected patients are undergoing treatment across the country including 1,120 in the capital.

Of the total hospitalised patients, 9,927 have been released so far this year.
