Outgoing Army chief calls on President, PM

Outgoing Army chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq has paid a farewell call on President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina, reports UNB.

The Army chief met President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Army chief expressed gratitude to the President for extending necessary guidance and cooperation in discharging his duties, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said.

The army chief apprised the President of the development activities of the Bangladesh Army in various sectors.

President Abdul Hamid thanked the outgoing army chief for discharging his duties properly during his tenure with competence."

“The army formed during the Liberation War is our pride”, he said.

He also praised the outgoing army chief for the strategic and organisational development in the army during his time.

The president also said that during his tenure the image of Bangladesh Army got brighter.

Meanwhile, the Army chief met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Tejgaon office in the city.

PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

During the meeting, they discussed the issue of development of Bangladesh Army.

The Prime Minister appreciated the outgoing Army chief for discharging his duties successfully during his tenure.

General Belal expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for extending all-out support for the development of Bangladesh Army and performing his duties as its chief.

Government appointed General Aziz Ahmed as the new chief of Bangladesh Army who will take over the charge as Army Chief today (Monday).
