PM gives Tk 4.23m for ailing filmmaker Amjad Hossain

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has donated Tk 4.23 million (42.35 lakh) to critically ill eminent film director Amjad Hossain for his treatment abroad, reports BSS.

"The PM gave Tk 2.23 million as air ambulance fare and Tk 2.0 million as treatment costs to the family of 'Ekushey Padak'-winning film director Amjad Hossain at Ganobhaban in the city on Sunday evening," PM's Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan told.

He said Amjad Hossain's son Sohel Arman received two separate cheques in this regard from the PM.

General Secretary of Directors Guild and noted filmmaker SA Hoque Olik was present on the occasion.

Earlier, PM Sheikh Hasina assured that she will bear all medical treatment costs including air ambulance fare for better treatment of Amjad Hossain abroad.

PM's Protocol Officer Khurshid-ul-Alam on Saturday conveyed the prime minister's decision to this end to the family of Amjad Hossain.

When contacted, SA Hoque Olik said they sent latest medical reports of Amjad Hossain to the authorities of hospital in Bangkok on Sunday.
