Police arrest 229 over crimes across city

Police arrested a total of 229 individuals during raids at different areas in the capital in 24 hours to Sunday. A total of 56 cases were also filed against the arrested.

Of the arrestees, eight were involved with robberies, nine with mugging, one with extortion, seven with stealing, 17 with drugs trade and others were wanted criminals. A knife and a hammer were recovered from their possession, while the law enforcers seized goods worth Tk 121,450.

Some 32.75 kg hashish, l,363 yaba pieces and two grams of heroin were also retrieved from their possession. Legal action was taken against the arrestees and they were sent to jail.
