Police arrest three busting note forgery racket in city

Police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in circulating fake currency notes worth Tk2.0 million in the capital.
Some currency forging equipment were also recovered from their possession. The arrestees were identified as Suman (38), Sultana (28) and Hanif Gazi (48).
Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said on Saturday that the arrests and recovery of equipment for making fake currency notes were made during separate raids at Kamrangirchar in Dhaka and Narayanganj on Thursday.
He also said that a police team from Kamranghirchar Police Station in Dhaka set up check-post in front of Buriganga Gonopathagar Samajkalyan Sangstha on Thursday (March 13).
Police were informed that some fake currency racketeers were moving towards Madbarbazar Ghat in Keraniganj of Dhaka from Signboard area of Narayanganj for circulating counterfeit notes.
As the fake note racketeers reached Buriganga Gonopathagar Samajkalyan Sangstha by an auto-rickshaw, they sensed presence of police and made an attempt to escape.
But police managed to catch the three- Suman, Sultana and Hanif- and recovered fake notes worth Tk0.4 million from their possession.
Based on information gleaned from the arrestees, a police team of Siddirganj Police Station raided a house at Kadamtoli Gas Line area under Siddirganj, Narayanganj on Thursday and recovered fake notes worth Tk1.6 million of Tk1,000 and Tk 500 denominations, a colour printer, paper roll for making fake notes, a CPU etc.
The arrestees confessed to their involvement in making fake notes for a long time.
