Police Assoc condemns killing of SI Shafiqul

Bangladesh Police Association (BPA) expressed on Friday deep condolence and condemned the killing of Sub-inspector (SI) Shafiqul Islam.

The BPA in a statement signed by its president Qamrul Hasan Talukder and general secretary Monirul Haque Dablu issued on the day protested the killing.

The association called upon the government to arrest the perpetrators of the murder immediately and mete out an exemplary punishment to them.

Shafiqul Islam, 43, a resident of Bagichapara area of Durgapur municipality, had been serving as an SI at the radio department of Jamalpur Police Lines until his death.

He was hacked to death by miscreants in Durgapur upazila of Netrakona on Thursday evening.

The association was deeply shocked and saddened by the news of hacking the police member (SI Shafiqul Islam) to death, the BPA said.

"We, with deep sorrow and condolence, say that we have lost an efficient, courageous and brave colleague, which is an irreparable loss for us," the statement added.

The BPA also said that SI Shafiqul Islam's contribution to police service and his human virtues will be remembered for ever.
