Police rescue abducted Chattogram boy in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Sept 12 (UNB): A madrasa student, who was reportedly abducted from Chattogram on September 05, was rescued from Biponibagh Bazar area in the district town on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Jashedul Islam (16), a student of Halishohor Al-Jamia Islamia Baitul Karim Madrasha in the port city and son of Joynal Abedin of Sandwip.

Quoting the victim, sub-inspector (SI) Momin of Sadar Model thana said two people were following Jashedul while he was returning home from the madrasa on September 05 and kidnapped him after placing a handkerchief poured with chloroform on his mouth.

Later, the kidnappers took him to Chandpur district town and kept him confined to a room for six days.

Later on Tuesday, Jashedul managed to flee the spot and took shelter at a shop in the area around 11:00 pm.

On information, police rescued him and informed his parents.

However, police could not arrest anyone in this connection yet, the SI added.
