Polytechnic students block city intersection

Students from polytechnic institutes blocked the Satrasta intersection in the capital's Tejgaon area on Wednesday. The students observed the programme to protest "destruction of the country's technical education system". The protest disrupted vehicular movement at the intersection and started a gridlock at around 11:15 am, forcing the commuters to suffer a lot. After getting assurance from the authority concerned to consider their demands, they withdrew the blockade at around 2:00 pm.

The students' demands included ensuring the highest punishment for those who threatened to shoot and behead diploma engineers, halting activities supporting the demands of BSc engineering students, implementing the six-point demands placed by the Technical Students' Movement, and introducing one-channel engineering education.
