Bangladesh Immigration and Passports Department has registered 1.04 million Rohingya people through biometric registration, says the UN migration agency-IOM, reports UNB.

Preparedness for the cyclone and monsoon season is priority in Rohingya camps, according to a report produced by Inter Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) in collaboration with humanitarian partners.

As of January 27, the Armed Forces Division (AFD) has completed 7.7 kilometres of the main road in the Kutupalong Bakukhali extension.

The AFD has also completed two kilometres of an additional access road.

Violence in Rakhine State which began on August 25 in 2017 has driven an estimated 688,000 Rohingyas across the border into Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, according to IOM Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) Baseline survey.

Meanwhile, UN special envoy on Myanmar Yanghee Lee will share her experience on recent Bangladesh and Thailand visits focusing Rohingya plights in Seoul on February 1.

The UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Myanmar made the visits to Bangladesh between January 18 and 24 and Thailand from January 24 to 30.

During her Bangladesh visit, the UN envoy met Rohingyas in camps and listened to their horrific experiences of torture in Myanmar.

She visited Damdamia Rohingya camp in Teknaf and talked to 20 Rohingyas -- 10 men and 10 women-at the reception centre of Teknaf Nature Park.

During their meeting with Lee, Rohingyas described to the visiting UN special rights envoy their bitter experiences.

She also visited Nayapara and other places where Rohingyas are now living.

The human rights expert will present a report to the UN Human Rights Council in March 2018.

On the other hand, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, also Japanese musician and actor, Miyavi will visit Bangladesh and meet Rohingyas living in camps in Cox's Bazar this week.

"I can tell you for sure, he's coming. But I don't want to give the date yet," an official at the Foreign Ministry told the news agency on Monday.

Born in 1981, Takamasa Ishihara, better known by his stage name Miyavi, is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. Miyavi, also a philanthropist, has gained international recognition and acclaim for his unique guitar style, using his fingers instead of a pick to create an elaborate sound both musically and rhythmically.

He has used his talent, voice and platform to help support various UNHCR campaigns, including #WithRefugees and the Nansen Refugee Award, at which he performed in 2017.

Miyavi visited Lebanon in 2016 to learn more about refugees' experiences, as well as Thailand in 2017 to meet Karen refugees from Myanmar.
