President visits Tagore’s Kuthibari

KUSHTIA, Jan 06 (UNB): President Md Abdul Hamid visited Shilaidah Kuthibari, the country house of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore in Kumarkhali upazila here on Saturday afternoon.
The visit of 'Rabindra Kuthibari' is part of the two-day Kushtia tour of the President.
During the visit, President stayed some time there, some 20 kilometres away from Kushtia town.
The President planted sapling of a Spanish Cherry (Bakul flower) at the pond-side of the eye-catching Kuthibari.
He also enjoyed several songs of Rabindranath there.
President's wife Rashida Hamid, family members, local leaders, secretaries concerned to Bangabhaban accompanied the President here.
Earlier, President Hamid arrived at Kushtia at about 1:45 pm on Saturday.
He is scheduled to visit the Lalon Academy and exchange views with the local representatives in the evening.
Abdul Hamid will address the fourth Convocation of Islamic University, Bangladesh, the first higher educational institution in the south-western part of the country, at 12:30 pm today.
