President's call to invest in scholarly research works

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday urged the affluent section of society to invest in various scholarly research works as it will play a very significant role in boosting the overall economy of the country, reports UNB.
"Our aim is to build a terrorism, hunger, poverty, superstition and illiteracy-free modern, technology-based and progressive Bangladesh. Experts, scholars and the new generation have to come forward to achieve the goal," he said.
The President was addressing the 17th biennial council of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city in the afternoon.
He also put emphasis on giving more attention to development-based research works to compete the global competition successfully in the threshold of 21st century.
Society President Prof Dr Amirul Islam Chowdhury and Secretary Dr Sabbir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the President inaugurated Asiatic Society's Digitalised Library and Heritage Museum.
