Primeasia Univ student stabbed to death by peers

A Primeasia University student was stabbed to death on Saturday by peers after an altercation between the students of two departments of the university, located in the capital's Banani.

The deceased, Zahidul Islam Parvez (23), hailed from Mymensingh district and was a student of the Department of Textile Engineering.

A police official at Banani Police Station said a clash broke out between the students of the English and Textile Engineering departments in the afternoon and was later settled.

However, some students from the English Department suddenly attacked Parvez with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured. Parvez was rushed to Kurmitola Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Efforts are underway to identify and detain those involved in the killing, he added.

University Proctor Mosaraf Hossain termed the incident "unfortunate".
